Furniture with profile? Definitely – on the one hand, due to the character of the designs, and on the other hand, due to the raw material with which the team works – old tyres.

Founders Monica Corser and Bernie Kudernatsch have created a versatile collection of furniture which is characteristic in design, mature in production and extremely durable and comfortable in use.

“The idea is wonderful and the implementation is first class. Why should only newly mined materials be something special? What does it mean to use an unconventionally renewable raw material, which is present in vast quantities and is still incredibly robust? We are only limited by our own mind, because the design is great, the material incredibly comfortable and robust and the processing is highly sophisticated.” Says Monica Weinzettl from KastlWerksatt in Vienna

MATURE PRODUCTS

The founders of Retyred, Monica Corser and Bernie Kudernatsch met in Bali 9 years ago, where they discovered some simple and comfortable chairs made from old tyres. Inspired, they pursued the idea together, setting up the factory, working hard on quality and production, and bringing in many new designs. Up cycled rubber is an excellent material for outdoor furniture – it is robust and therefore extremely long lasting in all weather conditions. Scrap tyres, whether we like it or not, are a steady and fast growing raw material! For more than 6 years the Australian – Austrian duo have been working together to design and produce some of the most distinctive furniture. Retyred presents an excellent range of outdoor and indoor chairs, tables, flower pots and various other storage containers, such as trunks and baskets. All pieces are handmade, and therefore, each piece is unique. Kudernatsch says “we have invested heavily in the manufacturing over the past few years and are now at an excellent level to produce for the world market”

BRAND NEW & WORN OUT

Retyred impresses with round forms in its design, sensationally comfortable chairs with almost endless durability. The “Teak and Tyre” product line, created by Monica Corser for the international market launch, with the first ever combination of teak wood with old tyres. This results in a very simple combination of two very durable raw materials, but the use of old tyres is no longer recognisable with the new designs often being mistaken for black leather, but with the comfort and flexibility and the up cycling of the rubber. “This has allowed us to explore a broader scope in the market” says Monica Corser
